The humorous plot is centered on two pen pals that began writing to each other thirteen years earlier, in sixth grade. The two, a young girl and boy, continued exchanging letters through the years. Now that this unexpected opportunity to meet has arisen, each of the pen pals is worried about revealing their true selves. Seth is in town for a toy convention and Gina is assigned to interview him. They both manage to convince their friends to stand in for them at the initial meeting. Gina's friend, Ellen, meets with Seth's friend, Matt. To say the least, it is not magical moment.
